Can Vegas import any HD file other than .m2t?
What types of HD files can Vegas import?
I assume XDCAM HD (35Mbps) files can be imported? Correct? I Think DVCPRO HD still cannot be imported. Correct? Can Vegas import Program Stream MPEG-2? For example, .mpg or .mpeg If so, can it use the .mp2 audio that has been muxed as part of the PS? (FCP cannot do this!) Will it import Elementary Streams? For example, if you select a .m2v file will it auto-import a .mp2 or .mp3 or .ac3 file of the same name? Can you work with these files? Will Vegas edit 1920x1080 HD in real-time?

As long as you have a codec Vegas can use, it can import it. MPEG (1 and 2) are handled easily. It will NOT import .ac3 separately but WILL import AC3 from a VOB file.
As for the HD cameras, they can be captured via SDI. Do some searches here for those formats - they've been discussed before. And, yes, Vegas edits everything in real time. It may lower the framerate if the CPU can't keep up with the number of layers or effects that have been added but it's still real-time. That can be overcome with pre-renders and other techniques.
