Welcome to DV Info Net
The Digital Video Information Network

It's been a very busy summer, one which has kept me on the road and away from the site quite a bit, but things are getting back into gear finally: Dylan Couper offers some advice on how to not get scammed on Ebay, plus Jeff Donald explains some common lens defects. Check out our new Son of Watchdog GL2 site. Much more to follow!

From April 4, 2002: Several articles: Don Berube of the Boston-based noisybrain. production company shares some behind-the-scenes notes on the making of the short film "Exclusive." Check out his affordable matte box and filter solution as well as some sample filtered images. From the other side of the planet in the Netherlands, Rob Lohman provides production notes of his own about the planning and production stages of his project. Michael Pappas offers a theory on acheiving a film look with Digital Video and a review of the VariZoom Stealth Zoom controller for DV camcorders. Finally, Carroll Lam describes in detail some SkyCrane Mini-DV camera boom modifications. More to come very soon! Right after NAB...

Check out the Videonics FireStore... it represents a drastic increase in productivity and decrease in overall project time for the serious event videographer. In my opinion it's nothing short of revolutionary, the "next step up" in DV production.

Here it is, extremely late but I'm a fim believer in better late than never. This is the follow-up to the XL1 Watchdog; it will be kind of like that, but more about Digital Video in general and the people who use DV.

Most folks will notice right away that the focus of this website is, so far, mainly on DV camcorders. The primary reason why there's not a whole lot of info about DV editing to be found here is because there are so many other websites which discuss it. However, among all the other big plans I have, there's the intention to cover at least the basics of DV editing and to also point you to the other sites on the internet which do a great job of covering it. More about that, very soon!

One of the first things this site will tackle, though, is the question I was asked most often on the XL1 Watchdog: where are the best places to buy? I'm working with my Sponsors to develop a comprehensive series of articles explaining how not to get ripped off when shopping for this kind of gear, and I'll add my own experiences about buying a DV editing system, too.

This is just a hint of how DVInfo.Net will unfold in the weeks to come. For now, though, be sure to check out this quide to what's already here...
