Importing Sony XD Cam Video Files into FCP

This question has probably been asked and answered here before, but I did find it in my searches.

I have video shot originally shot on Sony XD Cam that I need to get into my Final Cut Studio system. How is it done? It's been 2 days of banging my head agains the wall and I've had not luck. I installed XDCam EX Browser and that found all the video files, then I installed XDCAM Transfer, but when I launch that, I get a message saying: XDCam Drive Software is missing, and I can't seem to find that anywhere.

What am I not doing that I should be doing?

I should add, the files were given to me on a hard drive, I'm not importing directly from the camera.

Hey there William,
Sounds like you might just be missing the Sony XDCAM EX Log and Transfer plugin that can be found on the Sony site as a free download. If you can't find it, email me and I will send it to you. It is a 3.3mb file

Here's a post by Doug Jensen that you would be looking for. It took me a couple minutes but found it buried in the search results for "EX1 workflow". The post has links to Sony and Vortex Media online resources that cover the bases:

I may be overdoing it but when I setup a minimal system to handle XDCAM, I install the SXS Driver and Clip Browser from Sony. If the system will be using XDCAM in FCP, then I add either the Log and Transfer Plugin for FCP or XDCAM Transfer or both. Store this link somewhere safe:

I wanted to update and thank everyone for their input. I'm off and running. This is a perfect example of why this is such a valuable site.

Thanks again.
