Re: Westcott Spiderlites?

If you want to get past the hot lights & pricey (fire proof) softbox... I've become very fond of the biax flo fixtures. You can find duals (about 400 watt equivalent) for $200 or so, quads (like...

HMC Greenscreen Project

Finished up a massive music video project with the 150, every shot was keyed. Really did surprisingly well considering how compressed the footage is. Just give it lots of light and watch your focus....

Re: Marshall V-LCD50-HDMI

Late reply, but... yes, feed it bars, adjust the pluge for blacks, click it over to blue-only for color.

I even use it with a matrox mini at my mac, since I have yet to spring for a wildly...

Re: Using Focus Assist graph on HMC-150

I've never used the AF myself; I do leave the graph turned to "on" (when focus assist is on); but I've found the fastest, most dependable way to get manual focus is to hit the 1:1 button on my...

Re: Is this a wise move?

That's cool news. I've gotta say, the last ten years of my career has been an absolute trip.I've gone from paying $3000 for 600-some MB of ram in a $2500 mac to a Mac Pro. Not even thinking about...

I'm starting production on the most insane music video I've ever done. There's over a grand in vintage stewardess uniforms and bustiers piled up here... it's gonna be a trip. Lots of green screens so...

Re: Is this a wise move?

I have to agree about choosing tungsten when you're not fighting daylight... and I choose it for any DSLR footage I want to look really clean - I find Canon's tungsten footage can get a muddy look...

Re: Music vid, T2i....

Funny, I just got an email "reply" notice for this...

The rotating shots: I have an Igus slider, 48" long; I mounted a 2x4 to the ceiling (found the joists first) and screwed the slider to it. I'm...

Re: Is this a wise move?

You should really consider as much daylight stuff as you can. And I've shot tungsten for years, even as a still shooter I preferred tungsten to strobe.

But the new generation of flos are daylight...

Music vid, T2i....

I'm really getting to like this camera. Most of this was shot with a super-cheap eBay "wide" adapter, which has a really gorgeous chromatic aberration and blur in the edges. A real wreck of a piece...

B&H should have known - for the T2i, you need a spacer plate - the LCD is positioned differently than the 5D. With the plate it's a perfect fit.

The issue with my eyes may be that they're just...

I looked at their info for that piece, but needed a setup before the "crane" was available.

I've never shot with the crane, but I it seems to me the cavision's got a simpler elegance - the crane...

I'd be concerned if I had to grade every last shot to be happy with it - especially with daylight scenes with good on-set light levels (or outdoors), white balance seems to be my biggest concern.

Nope, just a ton of magnification - and I'm far from 20/20.

Hoodman is cheaper, and it's great if you like to wrap your camera in rubber bands (or use that terrible redrock plate). Cavision has a...

I've been really pleased with the cavision viewfinder with the T2i plate. It's not a zacuto but does the job. Not adjustable magnification, but I have bad close-focus issues and I can focus like a...
