3D Nostalgia

Many people know that the 3D is quite old. I just saw a viewer some 150 years old in a local antique shop. It was much more difficult to align the pairs without all the digital help. I just thought that some might enjoy it. At least now I don't feel so old.

I am glad you appreciated it. I just get fascinated with how many of the concepts, that people think were invented with "Avatar", are known for longer time than the telephone. This old viewer kept it's value, It sold new for $18-$50. The antique shop had it for nearly $2k - broken. Little of the history is described here: Beckers Style Viewers . I especially like the advertisement of the stereoscope: "Every gentleman of wealth and refined taste should have in his drawingroom some of our exquisite views on glass with a revolving stereoscope, showing 12, 25, 50 or 100 scenes. Nothing can be more fascinating and one can offer no greater treat to a friend." We need to update it for 2010 version of stereo-3D TVs.
