Importing Clip Problem

I'm importing a .AVI file into Adobe Premiere CS3 that plays fine on any video player such as window media player but once I drag or import into premiere pro it only drags in the VIDEO portion without the audio. This must be a simple problem but I cant figure it out! Did anyone ever have this problem? I've had it before and didn't figure it out. All help appriciated! Thanks

.avi does not mean it's necessarily DV.avi - other formats may use the same extension. Chances are, the audio is not wave, that's why PPRO doesn't like it (can't decode it). Download this small utility called G-Spot and ananlyze your video and audio to find out what exactly they are.
