fireface 800

Does anyone on the forum use a fireface 800 system.

The questions I have are regarding editing audio for video and creating sound tracks.
Does anyone have any tips in this area for me. Especially using this interface for 5.1 surround.
Havnt really got my head around this stuff yet.

Ive owned the fireface for quite a while and have finally got down to installing it.
I use Sonar Producer and all the other usual audio software for PC.
I really like some of the effects I can get in Rapture and Dimensions Pro.

I have it connected with my Yamaha Tyros and everything is working fine but I am suffering a little bit with latency problems and dropouts on large projects.
I don't have firewire 800 and I am only using 400.
Would an 800 interface card make a big difference?
Can I sync up my R4-Pro with word clock or do I need to get the smtp generator.

My PC specs are as follows (will be upgrading soon) so recommendations in this area could also be good :-)

AMD Athlon 64x2 6000+ (water cooled) soket AM2
DDR Ram 4096
M2N32-SLI Deluxe
GeForce 7900gs SLI 512mb x 2
FJ Siemens 24"x 16:9 monitors x 2
Benq FP202w x 2 monitors x2
Windows XP Pro x 64
SATA 5.TBites.

Lots of questions I know... but would appreciate the advice.
