Re: 3D Mic

If your are asking about a (5:1) surround mic, they are not usually used in anything but certain S/FX and other unique situations. That said, the Zoom H2n is likely the best sounding integrated option per dollar
Normally, a 5:1 mix is a product of post production, derived from multiple sound elements. The dialog having been recorded with a mono boom or body mic, then finally mixed to the center channel (or stereo phantom center) 99.999% of the time in post.

Re: 3D Mic

and best mic for surround capture if you wish to do it is the Soundfield mic but it is more useful to create 5.1 in post or if you are doing live work use a combination of mic's!

On sports outside broadcast coverage they normally use a combination of shotguns, omni's and a soundfield mic for ambient effects.

For video use, the best would be the DPA 5100 "bicycle saddle".

The small Holophone is also good.

DPA and Gefell do large "spiders" that hold microphones in a 5.1 array.

The Soundfield is also superb for this - starting with the very affordable SPS 200 (I have this myself).

The Core "tetramike" is a low cost look-alike of the SPS200 but smaller and a bit noisier.
