Advice about an extension cable for microphone of my camera

Hello, I would like to use the microphone from my camera and put an extension cable on it to be able to do interviews, or even other things like singing. I had seen this cable: A notice to our users Can you tell me if the microphone will work without problems? I would also like to know if I can connect the extension jack on my Asus Zenbook, laptop, to be able to record voice.
THANK YOU for your kind info.

Re: Advice about an extension cable for microphone of my camera

What connector plug does the mic have?
Most unbalanced mics w/ 3.5mm plugs can be extended to 3, 4 or 5 meters for interviews... Any longer could induce noise. Look for a 'shielded' female to male 3.5 to 3.5mm. Some headphone extension cables are not shielded so steer clear of those.
The 10 foot Hosa MHE-110 shielded headphone extension cable should work

OTOH, Balanced mics with XLR connectors can easily be extended to 30+ meters w/o problem by chaining XLR cables together.. 90 meters or so with good quality 'star quad' mic cable.

On this board, they don't usually do multiple posts - I think most peoples the new posts button, so see every topic, rather than like on some forums you only look at your favourites.
