Thanks Bryan, but unless I'm blind, the site has no information on it. A few pictures, but no info about what's in the guide.

"Can someone fill me in more on this guide and the adapter?" - your best bet is to read these threads and visit the site
The site lacks any real information at all - that's my problem. Before I buy I'd like to know what I'm buying. I shouldn't have to read the threads here - I'd like a nice succint, accurate - "what you get is..."

Quote:

"What does it offer and at what detail?" - not sure what you mean here
I meant, into what detail does it go about making the adapter? Every little thing? What to buy, where from, how to do it etc?

Quote:

"1) Is there a price for the adapter yet?" - James has quoted an introductory price of $500 for the micro35, and $45 for the guide (which is now shipping).
Thanks.

"2) Does the guide tell you everything, including specific parts and where to get them? Or is it more like - "get a macro lens"."

I don't know (since I'm waiting for my guide to show up), but I would venture to guess it's pretty specific, and it includes the ground glass, which should make the quality of a DIY a zillion times better than if you took a shot at building it without the gg.
OK, so you get the Ground Glass with the guide? Nice.

Thanks for the reply
Aaron

You must not have signed up for the mailing list. click the "sign up" button at the bottom, and you'll get quite a bit of info.

Aaron Koolen April 19th, 2005 11:32 PM

Ahh OK, no I didn't but I don't think I should have to sign up to a mailing list to get info on a product. If I sign up, will I be sent the latest info, or will I really just start getting what is effectively an emailed version of these threads?

I actually have never gotten an update, but I figure it'll be good to be signed up for once the new website goes up and other products start rolling out.

Cody Dulock April 20th, 2005 10:51 AM

from what i know, any changes done to the design after the guide came out will be available online... for example, the macro, the rails, the GG, a nuts and bolts solution, hot spot fix (im not sure if all of these are included or not included in the written guide). all im going to say is i've seen good things... its well worth the wait, pain, and anguish everyone is going through. if i was you i would much rather have the updated version of the adapter instead of the first prototype... theres been alot of changes.

Aaron Koolen April 20th, 2005 12:22 PM

If the price comes in at about $500 for a full adapter, and the quality is good, I will be very interested.

hi everyone

do they realy ship the guides?

and what is with this homepage?

Obin Olson April 21st, 2005 08:44 AM

will the guide give us all te info for buying EVERYTHINg that is needed to make this thing? rails? GG? Diopter?

Dario Corno April 21st, 2005 09:23 AM

I've done my order long time ago, but got no messages about the guides shipping.
Should I subscribe something ? (I didn't find any newsletter link on the website).

Did someone forgot to mail me just beacuse I'm a spaghetti heater ? :D

Cody Dulock April 21st, 2005 09:38 AM

Yes it will give you the name of businesses where you can purchase every part for the micro35... i believe the GG you have to get from james, but im not 100% sure on that. i know james is setting up some deals with places to sell the rail systems as well. The achromat used for the micro35 will be available online im pretty sure. Keep in mind alot of stuff was improved with the micro35 after the guide was printed, so there will be some type of members area on their website where you can get the rest of the information that was not able to be printed im pretty sure.

Brian Valente April 21st, 2005 09:51 AM

You don't HAVE to use the gg supplied, but why wouldn't you? it comes with the guide, and a lot of time was spent on the manufacturing process for it.

James Klatt April 21st, 2005 10:02 AM

Since there has been many updates to the guide(since they were printed long ago), it seems there will be an online update are for members. But will we be able to start gathering our supplies and start building our adapter if the information has changed? It would seem foolish to begin, if the recipe and ingredients on the guide are first drafts and we have to wait for this new member area. If this is the case, how long until the update area is ready? thanks!

Brian Valente April 21st, 2005 10:20 AM

James - maybe you know something more than me, but I have no information that suggests what's in the guide has changed substantially if at all. The core design has not changed.

James Klatt April 21st, 2005 10:53 AM

Brian, I'm probably wrong. I just guessed since there are going to be updates, since the adapter had "improved" since the guides we're printed, that maybe the directions or parts would be altered.
Me just want micro35 too! In the meantime, I am becoming a little obsessive about it.

Craig Bellaire April 21st, 2005 12:39 PM

James

I purchased the guide this week... "Just like I told every one I would", so now will the guide ship this friday like you said they would? Meaning I should get it next week! Also has anyone recieved their guide yet? Thanks

Cody Dulock April 21st, 2005 12:39 PM

there will be an area on the micro35 messageboard he is putting all together, for the updates and stuff. just hang tight!

Brian Valente April 21st, 2005 12:49 PM

James - lol. We are ALL anxious to get this going! I have 4 lomo primes I purchased (and a fifth one on the way), a DVX and no way to hook them together...yet!

James Hurd April 21st, 2005 01:21 PM

Hey Craig,
Just wanted to let you know that we processed your guide order the day it was received (instead of waiting for Friday...).

Thanks!

James I ordered a guide more than 5 weeks ago. I live in the England - when will it get there?

Alex

James Hurd April 21st, 2005 01:47 PM

Hey Alex!
You should get it next week!

Great

I'm getting my guide, I'm getting my guide....I'm gonna be a happy camper... BUT now I need a camera, cause mine just broke two days ago... hhhmmm now what? Anyway ....At least I'll have my guide; At least I'll have my guide... Latter

Aaron Koolen April 21st, 2005 03:23 PM

Am I missing something here guys, but have we even seen some final footage from this thing? I haven't, and if not why are people going and buying guides already?

And information is so lacking it seems. Is it a static GG device, moving, what? There is bugger all information anywhere on this thing, and the website is appalling for info.

I'm very interested but not too happy in plonking down a lot of cash for something that I'm not sure is decent.

Some high res footage would be nice - even some in DV format.

Aaron

James Hurd April 21st, 2005 03:28 PM

Hey Aaron!
Welcome to the Micro35 Project!

It might do you some good to read through some of these forums first. Most of the questions you've asked have been answered in one thread or another.

Thanks Aaron and glad to have you!

james

Aaron Koolen April 21st, 2005 04:39 PM

Thanks James. I don't mean to sound grumpy I just think that if you're selling these things (The pictures of the unit look wonderful by the way) that the website could have lots more information on it, without people having to search through forums. Even a simple FAQ and some recent video images would be a start.

I'm tossing up between a guide and a finished rig so I need to know info about how much cheaper it is to DIY (If it is in fact cheaper) or not. It also seems that the design has changed a lot over time so I don't want to have to read, and discard info from the threads.

Do you know how long it will take you guys to get some footage up of the finalised unit in action?

Cheers
Aaron

James Hurd April 21st, 2005 04:43 PM

No problem Aaron!

As I've recently posted (got to get that one in there. :) ..), our new website will be launched in the next week.

It will have PLENTY of great useful information regarding the project, products, productions, and much more!

Talk to you soon!

Aaron Koolen April 21st, 2005 06:18 PM

Awesome, thanks - that sounds like just what I'm after.

Aaron

Brendan Sundry April 21st, 2005 07:31 PM

Ive been seeing this LOMO around lately and am wondering what it is?

Shawn Murphy April 22nd, 2005 12:15 AM

I searched the main forum for 'LOMO' and found quite a few threads, from there I did a google for 'Russian Lomo Lenses' and found a number of sites with additional info:

Brian Valente April 22nd, 2005 08:52 AM

Aaron -

btw, it IS a rotating gg design, and some unique design elements result in no grain (!)

Personally, I'm waiting for the finished rig. Like you I'm a little antsy, but I don't want to build this thing out and f it up and then have to wait even longer!

Daniel Skubal April 22nd, 2005 09:24 AM

Has anyone gotten their guides yet? Please post immediately when you do get yours :)

Hopefully, we will get them today. I was hoping I would see the UPS guy pull up yesterday, but no luck :(

Brian Valente April 22nd, 2005 09:47 AM

Daniel - if you don\'t get your guide today I am going to write James personally and ask him to expedite yours!!!

There is a lot of info already on the lomo lenses in the different forums here. I encourage you to search it out.

Also if you search "konvas 2m" on eBay you will see a bunch of lomo lenses as well.

Let\'s keep on topic for this forum please

Jochen Stolle April 22nd, 2005 10:02 AM

hi James

Are you realy ship the guides?
Do you have a delivering date for the european Customers?

thank you

James Hurd April 22nd, 2005 10:19 AM

Daniel, leave the UPS guys alone! The guy you\'re looking for is wearing Blue!

j

Mark Kubat April 22nd, 2005 12:16 PM

Can we download PDF of Guide online and not wait for delivery?

James and co.

Here\'s an idea - let us "subscribe" to a site where we can download a hi-res PDF of the Guide so we don\'t have to wait for the men in blue?

That way, you guys can update the guide to reflect latest developments on the micro35...

anyone second the motion?
