Vimeo Upload Issues

I took the opportunity to upload a test 720p video to Vimeo today for the first time. The original looks very crisp, plays well, etc. After watching it on the site post it's conversion a few things stood out:

Blacks got completely crushed.
It was originally 30 fps and it looks to be converted crudely to 24 fps.
Entire film looks "off" compared to the original.

Comments and suggestions welcome on the best way to export to Vimeo from either After Effects or Premiere CS4.

Thanks!
