red band fell off L lens

The red plastic band fell off my 24 - 105 kit lens some time ago (yes, just after the warranty ran out) and now i'm looking to part company with both the lens and the 5d and move back to a 'proper" video camera (xf100).

I still have the plastic red band (in 2 bits) and figure the lens will not sell as well with it apart from the lens, which is in tip-top condition otherwise.

Do i:

1) Superglue it back on?
2) get it fixed?
3) hope the prospective buyer believes that the lens has had no knocks but simply fell off?

I think option 1 is dishonest, so i can count that out. Any thoughts on the other 2 options?

Yep honesty is the best policy, you don't want a buyer coming back.

I'd get a camera repair shops advice and maybe get them to glue it back on and give the lens the once over.

It shouldn't cost much, but tell any perspective buyer about it .. and show them the receipt with details of the work. Good luck.

Cheers.
