Dell is selling the GL2 for $2300. They drop it $400.00. Plus there is a $250 rebate. Not a bad deal. It sounds like they are cleanin them out to me.

At last...

Andrew Khalil March 10th, 2006 07:40 AM

at last what? was something announced?

Bob Zimmerman March 10th, 2006 03:20 PM

Maybe he was waiting for a sale at Dell!

Andrew Khalil March 10th, 2006 05:38 PM

yeah, I was excited for a second there:( After looking around the web, no announcements, so I guess that's what he was referring to.

Very funny, read the previous message, I have been watching for years for this camera, and at last there seems to be some action, getting rid of the previous camera.

So have a lot of people. Maybe it's about time!!

Tim Le March 13th, 2006 08:43 PM

$2300 is a bit high. Most reputable places (B&H, BPAV, 17photo, etc.) are selling the GL2 for $2000 now. Add in the $250 rebate and it sure sounds like a blowout to me! =)

Tim,

Two years ago I picked up a GL2 with the exact pricing you just described from B&H.

Tim Le March 14th, 2006 01:34 PM

Oh my bad, well I guess it's not a sign afterall =(

Wayne Morellini March 15th, 2006 06:12 AM

So, what is the point of the rebate?

Jacob Mason March 15th, 2006 08:36 AM

Just as the XLH1 and the XL2 coexist, the introduction of a GL HDV successor shouldn\'t necessitate the extinction of the SD version.
Even though the price drop is an indicator that an HDV camera is coming soon, it still serves a purpose and will retain its value accordingly.
Sony still sells the VX and PD models, as does Panny with the AGDVX and DVC30, and they all have HD/HDV cameras evolving within in the lineup.

If product isn\'t selling as fast or in the quantities the manufacturer hoped for then the market is saying that the price isn\'t right....
