B&H Extended Warranty

Hi I recently purchased an A1 9 days ago and looking to invest in an extended warranty. I can get the "Mack 4 year" from B&H but I'm not crazy about Mack. I've had their service before and don't feel like I trust them with such an expensive piece of equipment. They had trouble fixing my consumer JVC camcorder a few years back. Any other suggestions? Does Canon offer extended warranty plans for their authorized service centers? I want to protect my investment. Thanks for the help.

I was told that Mack simply gives you the address of Canon's repair center for equipment such as the XH A1 to send it there directly in a Mack warranty case. They wouldn't be able to fix a camera like that anyway in most cases.

That was the information I was given where I purchased my A1.

I am also really interested to see what other options there are if any. I did see in a thread that Canon USA will still do repairs on their cameras after the 1 year warranty is up, unfortunately I cant remember what thread it was. I am about to purchase my XHA1 and possibly a HV20 so this is definately a concern of mine. Did you buy your camera from BHPhoto?

Would you like to elaborate? I know Mack service isn't the best but from what was posted above makes it worth it to me. If I can send it to Canon everytime I would love it.

Mike, I was basically quoting what my authorized Canon dealer told me about the Mack warranty for the XH A1. Before I decided to purchase the Mack warranty I read through several forums where people reported about their experience with Mack. Some had bad esperiences, many had good ones. The bad ones sounded horrendous (as always), however the nice ones seemed dominant. In my case, I decided it's worth the money to me to get it.

My 2 cents.

No, thank you for sharing it helps. I wish Canon offered a service, even if it was expensive I would buy it since I know I would get genuine service and piece of mind.
