shooting stars

a movie i'll be shooting next month has a scene with characters looking up at a night sky filled with stars, and to make matters worse the director wants it in black and white, is my only safe bet to take stills and then animate them with a slight george lucas rotation so that they don't look like stills, or maybe layer an image of character's silhouettes in motion in front of stills? is it possible to get starlight on an xl2 at 1/8th of a second?

any thoughts?
