Does Apple Color work with Cineform MOV?

Does Apple Color work with Cineform MOV? I heard it didn't last year.

If not, can I color correct in Final Cut? Or is first light the only way to do it?

Apple Color doesn't support any QuickTime base codecs. You can color correct CineForm files anywhere else, including FCP and FirstLight.

"Apple Color doesn't support any QuickTime base codecs."

David,

Perhaps you could provide a further explanation of what you mean by this. The Color manual notes a number of Quicktime codecs that are supported for import, and a subset of these that are supported for output. I generally output to ProRes, which last time I looked was a Quicktime codec.

Thanks,
Kevin

Not via QuickTime, no QuickTime based codec works. Apple Color has compiled in Apple only codec support, not third parties compressors can use it.

If you want to use color for finishing on the Mac, you can export an XML of your timeline from FCP and import it into ReMaster to create a selection of DPX files. Color understands DPX.

I'm so freakin' confused.

Maybe there's someone out there in LA that can color correct this for me in first light? (and just email back the metadata)

if so, give me a call and name your price
