Vegas 10 and Cineform

I read this on a previous post and just want to confirm that this is still the case with Vegas 10"
"So you can't color correct in Vegas as is, you have to use a calibrated external monitoring or add the video system to computer RGB conversion filter. FirstLight is correct on the desktop and for external monitoring".

This is quite a useful bit of information. If true this means I can use Firstlight to get an accurate preview on a calibrated monitor.

Should the monitor be calibatrated to a full range setting (0-255) or sRGB (16-235).

Thanks

Re: Vegas 10 and Cineform

FirstLight uses 0-255. sRGB means something deferent than StudioRGB (which is 16-235.) "sRGB" is a graphics colorspace with is 0-255, not 16-235 (so potential confusing.)

Re: Vegas 10 and Cineform

Thank you! I will use first light for my color correction rather than Vegas then.

Re: Vegas 10 and Cineform

Mervin,

Yeah, I use vegas as well. It's nice that firstlight lets gives you an accurate rendition since FCP and Vegas both have unnecessary gamma issues.

Imagine this though: being able to color correct in ONLY firstlight. You don't even have to open your timeline to preview the changes as they fit in to the edit.

Read my idea for it here:

What do you think about that?
