Not necessarily. As explained in another thread, one of the reasons I got my nF was to record the output of the graphics card of my computer for software tutorials. For that MPG is usually perfectly sufficient.

Yes, this was my mistake, sorry. Ron was the original poster who mentioned using using MPG insteat of QT or MXF. MPG has its uses, but it is not 4:2:2.

I just wanted to point out the if you were using HDMI, you would need to change Timecode to Internal in order to get timecode recorded. If Timecode was set to Embedded, and you were using HDMI as the input, then you would probably get "00:00:00:00" timecode.
