Re: Samsung NX1: H.265 and 4k

Thanks Dave. Things improved quite a bit subsequent to the last firmware update.

The AF performance was significantly improved.

I'm happy with the Sony AX100, but getting a tad tired of waiting for a 4K update to the RX10 or any of their other still (Alpha) cams for that matter
The NX500 does fine in 4K UHD, and the crop actually is useful:

Re: Samsung NX1: H.265 and 4k

All the footage I've seen from the last couple videos posted on this thread are incredibly sharp and crisp and detailed. Amazing resolution, but the overall feeling is so video and digital.
Can anybody who has posted some of the footage try to pretend they're filming a 30" narrative and try to be as cinematic as they can? It's just that for me, and I'm mainly interested in shorts, this cam seems so harsh and blunt.

Re: Samsung NX1: H.265 and 4k

Thanks Larry...I think. :)

Mark and I have very similar styles of shooting and, speaking for myself (and I think for Mark), it's that 'you are there' look that we so love.

I always try to replicate the look & feel of what I'm shooting and for me that pushes me toward the look that you probably don't like, video.

Fair enough. I'd say, hooked to a light gimbal stabilizer this is the cam for a doc, no doubt.

Mark, the videos using the NX500 are really nice. What is in your lens collection for this camera?

Thanks. The 16-50mm PZ, the 60mm Macro, the 50-200mm zoom, and the 16-50mm S (for low light).

And now the Samsung NX500 is almost a Pocketable NX1

With the recent firmware update, so that 4K has 70 Mbps H265 bitrates and there is improved AF in video mode, the NX500 is more like a little NX1:

I had no trouble seeing the lcd image on this bright beach.

I took advantage of crop mode.

You are welcome. One lens (I have to travel light): the 16-50mm PZ.

Re: Samsung NX1: H.265 and 4k

Another nice footage. Thanks for the lens.
One day, when and if you have time, I'd like to see how cinematic the NX1 could be. Do you have CineConvert by any chance? Have you tried to play with the footage in post to make it more film like?
