Problem Converting High Definition File to DivX

Using Dr. DivX I am having a problem when I try to add/open an input file it says
"This file is not decodable by Dr. DivX OSS:
Undefined error"
I was trying to convert a short clip shot with a Sony A1U in HD and captured with Sony Vegas. I rendered the file using the 720 HD preset and saving it has an AVI. If I save the file as SD I can encode the file to divx, but not HD. I just tried to use the original capture file (.m2t) that wasn't even listed as a compatable file type and it worked. I want to be able to encode the edited version though. Does anybody have any suggests?

Let me know if more info is needed. Since I am able to encode a SD avi file, doesn't seem like its a problem with the avi, and since I am able to encode the m2t HD file doesn't seem to be a problem with it being HD.

AVI is just a container. What matters is the codec inside. What did you use?

Just to provide a little more info, I just purchased the DivX Converter from divx.com and tried to convert the file. Got this message:
"Invalid Video Stream
The DivX Converter cannot encode the input file:
C:\Video\MayfairPark\MayfairParkFlag.avi because it contains
and invalid video stream"
