Great White North Lenses - Dylan Couper & Shaun Roemich Feedback!
Dick Mays’ comments about Dylan’s and Shaun’s entry helped me realize it needs a feedback thread before the voting begins! Dylan is out of town so couldn’t post it himself. Lest anyone think that because he is Mr. DV Challenge he isn’t eligible to win this round, he didn’t know the theme until he read it with everyone else, so this entry most certainly is in the running. Let the guys know what you thought of their entry!

This was very tongue in cheek, eh! I thought you guys put together a really good parody of the kickstarted genre of films, but with overall better production values, including audio you could actually hear and didn't sound like the "Lav" part of the sound was the room in which it was recored.

Dylan and Shaun, you really made a fun film! Made me laugh!
I expect you guys to make a follow up film with "behind the scenes" of the lense in use. :) And the extra light sure come in handy! Well done, guys! |

Yes... PARODY... that's what we made... a parody...
<scurries out to take down the Kickstarter page> Being friends with Dylan is like trying to shave a rhinoceros... Sometimes it's a really bad idea but you know SOMEONE is going to laugh their arse off at whatever happens next... BTW, we just got back from Cabo San Lucas where we started shooting the sequel to Office Time Machine... The text message I got an hour ago from Dylan sort of sums up how production works for WolfPack North: "Omg... I'm watching the video... Does anyone remember me throwing your clothes hangers off your balcony at palm trees??" On a related note... see some of you at NAB in April!

For the record, we didn't use our lens on the production...

Wow, that doesn't look too bad considering we shot it in one take with no script.
There will be a 45 minute directors cut, 34 minutes of which is me trying to get the last drops out of the Canadian Club bottle.

Hilarious entry - really captured the wannabe pro filmmaker inspired trends in film gear.
Now if I'm going to buy one of these, can you add a photo-multiplier tube for low light situations? - sure f-1 is great, but you always need more stray photons. And a kaleidoscopic aperture for unique bokeh and lens flares. I want my out of focus shots to look different to everyone else's. Also, the total lack of focus, and with so much light you no longer have any dynamic range, you could use about 1kb/sec for video compression, in any old codec. |

OMG!
I just got some GREAT news! REDMagic Design has agree to buy our lens intellectual property and start manufacturing it in Uzbekmalay! MSRP has been announced at $2. Grant Jamtartty of REDMagic Design had this to say: "We here at at REDMagic Design feel the Great White North lens fits an under-served niche market that we can capitalize on by spreading hyperbole across the Interweb. As well, the 'Impossible To Deliver At The Announced Price and Timeframe' nature of this lens makes it PERFECT for our business model." In other news, Plum Computers has announced they seek to block the sale of the lens since it contains glass which can crack if dropped. "The Broken Glass Phenomenon, as we at Plum like to call it, was first demonstrated on our MePhone line. This is obviously a cheap attempt to rip off the work of our hard working corporate lawyers who stole the technology from someone else in the first place". Upon hearing the Plum Computers announcement, Somethingwrong, the North Korean technology manufacturing firm released this press release: "If Plum says they broke something, Somethingwrong broke it first!" and goes on to say they will send a billion gumballs to Plum Computers to settle the debate.

Re: Great White North Lenses - Dylan Couper & Shaun Roemich Feedback!
Already pre-orders are rushing in from across the globe but some detractors have already said "two dollars? That's ridiculous! Think of how many they'd give away for FREE!"
The DIY community is outraged that the foraged lead and brass casing of the lens, sourced from "green" spent ammunition from wartorn areas, is too heavy and will throw off the balance of their homemade camera stabilizers and doorway dollies. Great White North CEO Dylan Couper was quoted as saying "can we get that buyout money in tequila and Parasuco shirts?"

You'd need at least 16kbps for 8K. Which SHOULD work on a fast 5.25" floppy disc... which should be available at your local Canadian Tire store or Husky gas station.
