HD DVD discussions break down

Another setback for everyone who was hoping a unified format for HD on DVD would emerge...

Talks have been suspended indefinitely between a group of companies led by Sony Corp., which supports the Blu-ray format, and the Toshiba Corp.-led bloc, which backs the HD DVD format, Japan's Yomiuri newspaper reported.

While sad, it may mean I can put off my migration to HD a little bit longer. I don't want to be stuck with flash-in-the-pan formats.
