How do I get a DVD into FCexpress?

The dvd's play up on my ibook g4, but when I try to import it with FC express it states
'File Error Wrong Type' no options, nothing

when I try to drag it into the bin it says

'File Error 0 files recognized, 7 unknown'

I got Mac the Ripper and tried to change the formats on the files and I still can't get it into the editing system.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?
thanks

well here is where I am at now;
I got a few programs where I converted the DVD to mpeg4 and avi
now they are in final cut but unrendered. I hit render both (i guess this means audio and video) and a window came up that says writing video app. 60 minutes left.
I'll post how it goes. If i figure this out, i'll be glad to share my experiences with anyone who needs to know.
In the meantime, please don't hesitate to post suggestions.
Peace

You need MPEG Stream Clip. Wit it you can export VIDEO_TS folders from a DVD using just about any codec imagineable.

I't one of my main tools.

Thanks Dave!
Are you from Roanoke? I went to high school in Lynchburg, now living in Sweden.

Get DVDXDV. It works nicely. I've used it myself.
