Burning bare bones dvd

Hello,

I made a QT movie, self-contained, in FCP5. I then tried several times in iDVD and it would always stop encoding at the same place.

I then tried SP2 (following articles on Ken Stone's web site), but after 2 1/2 hours it had only built to 20%.

This morning I made a new 'movie' and tried iDVD again. Same result.

Any ideas or suggestions.

thanks,
elmer

How long is the movie and what computer are you using? Depending on the computer speed, movie length, and MPEG encoder settings, it can take many hours to render.

Thanks for your reply.

I'm using FCP 5, SP 2 on a 1.25 ghz G4 laptop. About 2 weeks ago I made a dvd of a similarly lengthed movie on iDVD and it took less than 2 hours to encode and burn.

In SP 2, my bit rate is 5.0 and max rate 7.5, as suggested in Ken Stone's how-to on his web site.

cheers,
elmer

I'm using FCP 5 but have iDVD 3. Could that be a reason why movies from FCP won't burn in iDVD?

johnny curious,
