5d mark2 Leitz commercial
Tom Mayer Tom Mayer is offline January 29th, 2009, 07:17 AM

hey,

Leitz Folders Commercial (preview) on Vimeo

this is a commercial we did for school.

sound will be re-recorded in a studio.

This is just a preview, im thankful for any kind of
tips and suggestions to make it better!

we shot it with the canon 5d markII and a set of
old olympus om2 lenses with an adapter.
50mm 1.4,
28mm 2.0,
24mm 2.8,
1zoom ?-70mm 3.5

we used the Flat +10 preset from Ben Syverson.

everything was shot with a shutter speed of 1/50.
with the manual lenses, it was not that hard to
acchieve that combination.
we never went over 500iso, but most of the shots are around 100-200iso.

we used one 2.5kw HMI and a 1.2kw HMI, both bounced
to the ceiling and a kinoflo with wd to light the actors.

i created mjpeg proxies using super c, then edited
in vegas and replaced all the files separately.
a EDL in vegas dont work!

Nice... I was bummed out that you didn't use Leitz lenses but love the look none-the-less...

not sure what the commercial is selling but the pay-off is great. I got a good laugh! Technically, it looks good.

Only criticism - I would have shot on a tripod, not handheld.

thx for the feedback.

i didnt shot on a tripod cause i wanted to go for this look and feel:
ADBEAST MEDIAVIEWER
(3. video "meeting of the minds")
i really like that and i think it cuts smoother when shot handheld.
my rig was prolly a bit too light for propper handheld/shouldermount shooting.

here are some behind the scenes shots:
