Ghost frame of credits appear just before scrolling credits!

Here is an unusual problem. When I burn my Final Cut Pro X project to DVD or save as a Quicktime file, I get one frame of credits flash on the screen, just a few frames before the actual scrolling credits appear. I have searched my Final Cut project frame-by-frame and I can't see anything wrong, but on the DVD, there is one frame of the credits that appear just before the actual credits scroll. It is only one frame of what appears to be a ghost image of the credits as a still.

Anyone ever experience this?

If I take my Quicktime file and save as using h.264, the frame doesn't appear. Alternatively, I can put the Quicktime file into iMovie HD and fade the one frame to black and then burn a DVD but this seems to defeat the whole workflow of Final Cut Pro X.

What frame appears? You should export a QuickTime movie first and check it out. If it's OK then send the file to Compressor and make the DVD there.

Re: Ghost frame of credits appear just before scrolling credits!

Yup, I have ghosts. When I export to Quicktime or burn to a DVD from FCP X, there is one still frame of the credits that appears about 4 frames before the actual credits roll in from the bottom. It only lasts 1 frame, but of course is very obvious on playback, especially when projected on a 20 foot screen.

I have tried dropping a black box about 15 frames long that spans the joint between the transition just before it and the edge of the credits box and that seems to have erased the ghost image for now. Could there be something in that joint that lasts one frame? Maybe a leftover from when we created the credits?

No matter how high the magnification, it still doesn't show up in my timeline.

Not that you are going to like the following suggestion, but I had problems with the credit roll when I started changing font sizes and colors within the preset supplied with the program. Either build the credits within Motion or use Photoshop (or any image editing program) and create a tall document with the credits. Then just animate the graphic in Final Cut.
