Subtitling in x?

Hello everyone,
Does anyone who works with X have a workflow for doing subtitles? I have always used inqscribe to import subtitles as XML files into legacy. Now the new FCPX XML file format is incompatible. Does anyone know of other software/plug-ins to facilitate subtitling in X? Or is this another feature that has fallen to the wayside?

Re: Subtitling in x?

Have you tried 7toX?

My subtitling work is always for trailers or other short form work so I just use the character generator.

No, I hadn't heard of this. Thanks for the lead, I'll look into it and see if it could work!

Re: Subtitling in x?

Thank you William for that suggestion. It does look like 7toX can convert XML files created for FCP6 to FCPXML. All text formatting is lost in the transfer because the text is formatted completely differently in legacy and X. Its kind of circuitous, but better than nothing!

Re: Subtitling in x?

By the way, in case anyone else is interested in this topic, in the end I decided that FCPX is just not up to the job with subtitles and I am using FCP7 instead until FCPX can offer a more sustainable workflow. While I liked the ability to tag the clips so descriptively and sort them efficiently in X, the overall workflow just is not friendly to doing subtitles. Anyway, just FWIW.
