Imported clips won't play

Can anyone tell me why AVCHD clips imported from a Sony FS100 will not play from the event but will play if I drag the clip into the timeline and play it in the project viewer. The hard drive flickers but doesn't play the clip. I have been editing footage from the same camera without incident in a different Library. I'm running Mac OS X Yosemite Version 10.10.3 and Final Cut X version 2.1.

I have tried to re-import the footage from the camera archive with the same results. I have also rebooted the machine and relaunched FCX multiple times. I transcoded for Proxy files and they do not play either. Only thing different is I am using a new Western Digital 2 TB disc drive that I formatted for Mac OS Extended case-sensative journaled. Should I have formatted it differently? I would appreciate any insight. Thanks. Joe

BTW clips will scrub fine just won't play.

Re: Imported clips won't play

In case anyone else has had this happened, I discovered that there is a bug in FCX 2.1 . If you have both viewers open, clips in the event will not play but if you close the event viewer and only keep the project viewer open, you can play everything. I can't tell you how this drove me nuts until I discovered this little tidbit.
