Compressor doesn't work in panther...

Hi,

I did an archive and install of Panther on my 10.2.8 DP 1.25ghz G4. Everything has worked fine since I upgraded, except for the fact that the "Export to compressor" is greyed out. When I try and start compressor externally it instantly quits. All my other programs work...

Do I have to reinstall FCP 4? If I had to, how would I uninstall it? Should I just delete the things in /Applications and that will be that?

thanks

Make sure QuickTime is serialized for QT Pro

I fixed it!

I copied

/Library/StartupItems/Qmaster
/Library/Frameworks/Compressor.framework
/Library/Frameworks/MediaServerAPI.framework
/Library/Frameworks/Qmaster.framework
/Library/Frameworks/AECore.framework

from /Previous Systems to /Library

and everything works!

Thank you for the tip on this. I know a few brave souls that did the upgrade right away as well. They are not having any problems as of yet (Even though they have a FireWire Drive attached!)

I will let some people know about this if they are having this problem as well.

I noticed that on one of the Clean Installs I did the entire frameworks folder did not get copied. But that machine didn't have FCP 4 on it, so I didn't have that problem.

This just happened to me too ie. Compressor was "greyed out" in FCP and wouldn't launch from the Dock. I'm not sure why, perhaps because I had to recently re-install OS 10.3 again after Disk Doctor killed my Panther. Maybe newer versons of Nortons (that work) should be called "Disk Vet".
I also had just installed the FCP 4.1.1 update, Live Type update, etc. Probably I just hadn't noticed Compressor wasn't working for the past 2 weeks.

Anyway if this happens to anyone else the cure is:
just reinstall COMPRESSOR again from your backed up CDR copy of CompressorUpdate1.1.pkg
