Multicam edit issue

I've been successfully working with multicam edits for sometime now and lately I've been having a problem I cannot solve: When cutting between angles (in this case, only two), the timeline sort of freezes up and then a catches up after a couple of seconds.

The footage is on an external RAID (0) drive - eSATA and the footage is DV anamorphic. I've trashed settings, played with the unlimited vs. Safe RT settings, all to no avail. I must be missing something simple but cannot seem to find it. I am running an 8-core Mac Pro, snow leopard, and FCP 7 with all the latest updates.

Any readers out there ever have this problem? Any ideas on what is wrong and how to fix it?

Thanks

Reed

Have you set RT to unlimited? It may be stuttering on playback - and setting RT to unlimited may fix it.

Also, in FCP user preferences, make sure you don't have "Limited real-time video" checked in the general tab.

Is the drive close to full?

Settings and drives

Unlimited has always been checked but I did try it in "Safe" as well with no change. Footage is on an new G_Tech Raid drive but prior to that, drives were only about 30% full.

I'm going to get the last three sequences cut before I trash all and start from scratch. I am wondering if there could be some incompatibility between the two angles like DF vs. NDF time code? Have to take a look at that.
