What I posted has nothing to do with dragging files into, or emptying the trash. It's handled within FCP. Give that method a try and see how much space you can free up.

If you still have the project file you can select all your media that you have backed up and press SHIFT+D which will create an offline verison of the media, then choose delete it from disk. You can then also keep the project file and re-connect the media later if you need to.

I solve the problem with LacieD (LaCie External Drive)

I only turn off my mac once in while.
So, after the problem with LacieD, I turn off/on the mac and LacieD has all the memory bakc again. I also ejected LacieD and turn it off for a few seconds... So LacieD is ready for new files.....

Why they say in the box that the drive has 500GB. When I pluged it says that it has only 467.46GB???

By the way, I'm much better with my editing. FCP is now a breeze...
