Chuck,

The A-1 is, in a word, astounding.
I love it.

It's not a handicam type camera, at a touch under 5 lbs,
it is rough to handhold for any length of time - but
the amount of adjustments that can be made to
vary the image is the most I've ever seen in an
under-$5000 camera. The optics on the 20 to 1 lens
are very good. The image quality is eye-popping.
It has a few (minor for me) shortcomings,
but all in all it is on top of the ever-changing heap right now
imho.

I notice that today (Wednesday), SheerVideo has
been updated to include several easy set-up's in FCP
using HDV presets.

For anyone shooting HDV who is interested
in the quality of the SheerVideo codec's,
this update is a real plus
