DJI Phantom Shot down in Taksim Square

The Aviationist is a blog primarily about aviation and one article posted is about a drone that was shot down by Turkish police. If you look closely it had a go pro attached to it.

There have been multiple weeks of rioting all over Turkey.

You don't get out much do you? :-) Also, it looked to me to be more of a peaceful protest met with substantial government force. The last few days there have been silent protests and more arrests.

They shoot it down to stop it filming (presumably) then they let them have it back with footage intact?
These guys don't know how to do this authoritarian government thing properly.

Re: DJI Phantom Shot down in Taksim Square

I'm not sure they gave it back, I didn't watch the whole thing but it didn't appear to be shot down in that video so I'm guessing this footage was from prior flights.

I wonder what they shot it down with?

There were water drops on the lens. I would guess it eventually got knocked down by a water cannon.

There have been massive protests in Brazil and it will be interesting to see if any drones are used to cover those.
