FireStore FS-4 demo video

I had a chance to "kick the tires" on the FS-4. I must say I'm really impressed and excited about the product! Here's a quick demo video I threw together after getting the unit.

Cheers,

Hi Guy,

Nicely done demo video.

I'm assuming that you were using a production model to do the demo. I noticed that there was a film format Quicktime 24p on your unit, which is not on the beta model I was testing. Can you tell me what the difference between Quicktime and the Quicktime 24p is?

.... I think I just found the reason for this format not being on my beta FS-4 (PAL) unit. Being PAL makes this format not as necessary as with NTSC.

Thanks for your comments Daniel. Yes, the unit I received is a shipping (yea!) boxed production unit. I'm kicking myself now for not testing the Panasonic DXA100A in 24P mode with the FS-4 when I had them both in my hands (as seen in the video). I'll be on the road for the next week, but maybe someone else can chime in that has a 24P camera like the DXA100A or the Canon XL2 and let us know how it works. I'm seeing the same question pop up on other forums too, so maybe Matt or someone who receives their unit will share their thoughts too.
By the way, I dig your crazy camera.

No problem, I have fun doing this stuff :)

Matt posted some info on the 24P question on another board here is his reply

"Hi,

If you set the DVX100 to 24p Advanced mode and set FS-4 to QuickTime 24p mode, FS-4 actually records 30fps, but flags the relevant frames for FCP to display. When you bring the QuickTime clip into FCP or even QuickTime Player, they appear as 23.98 clips.

Hope that helps,

Matt"

Cheers,

Guy

Thanks Guy,

It still doesn't really make sense to me?! But why should it?

Also, thanks for the compliment. It's really a case of form follows function.
