Comprehensive Guide to Rigging ANY Camera

After publishing the Master Guide to Rigging a Blackmagic Design Cinema Camera and the Master Guide to Rigging a Nikon D800 or D800E, I thought it might be a good idea to put together a bigger guide that covers more cameras and situations.

How big? Only about 300 pages for so.

This comprehensive guide outlines a road map on how to plan, assemble and build your own personal camera rig. The camera systems covered in this guide:
  • Panasonic GH2/GH3
  • Nikon D4/D800E/D800/D600
  • Canon 1DX/5D/6D/7D/60D/650D/600D/550D
  • Sony A99
  • Blackmagic Cinema Camera EF/MTF
  • Sony FS100/FS700/F3
  • Canon C100/C300
  • Red Scarlet/Epic
  • Arri Alexa
  • Sony F65
It is probably highly ambitious and overreaching, but is there anyone in this forum whose dream isn't? I present it to you, warts and all. Take what you will.

If you find errors and omissions (which I guarantee it has, being such a large body of work), please bring it to my attention. With your support it will become a more accurate and useful guide, and it can only improve with feedback.

A new chapter is being published everyday, and as of this post we're one-thirds in. It will hopefully be complete by mid-December, after which it will be available as a free ebook. Please use the main blog menu to navigate to new chapters, since I'll only update the menu and navigation links once it's fully complete.

I hope you'll find it useful. Here it is:

Hey good post. Not sure why, but don't normally read this particular forum on dvinfo, and could so easily have missed this.

Re: Comprehensive Guide to Rigging ANY Camera

Hey, Sareesh, that's one incredible piece of work!! I just watched the clip of the Zacuto EVF system(s) and was really jazzed at how my GH2 can be rigged! Thanks for a marvelous effort...I've bookmarked the "Guide!!"

Cheers!

P.S. Like Trevor, I don't normally browse this category on the forum...I'm glad I did today!

Re: Comprehensive Guide to Rigging ANY Camera

An update: The guide is now half-way through. The first half dealt with finding gear. The second will focus on putting them together.
