Query: Canopus RexRT M2 module pin-out?

I was looking at the M2 module for my RexRT -- the backplane piece that adds component output -- and realized for the first time (OK, I'm slow) that there is also some sort of audio port there.

The audio port on the M2 module is labelled 'DAIF', it has a nine-pin round jack but _not_ the typical DIN arrangement with the pins arranged circularly, but rather in a 2;2+1;3 pin alignment (the 2+1 because that row is pin, pin, gap, pin unlike the row below which is pin, pin, pin.

Anybody know what this configuration/output sends? I realize it is some flavour of digital audio (or assume it is) but why that jack? And what will it connect to? Can I adapt this using the proper cabel to plug into some other sort of digital audio interface ...?

Cheers,
GB
