FYI Mark, not sure if you have experience flying stabilizers but if not, expect to spend a while getting the hang of it. Renting is actually a great way to determine if you like a rig or not, something that few people these days feel is a worthwhile investment (as opposed to buying a rig sight unseen and then putting it up for sale within a few months, which we see a lot of here).
|
look up "Cinequipt" in MPLS. They may have it, or something like it...if not, they may know who does.
|
we rent ours for 400.00 per week, if SWA cargo flies that way we would be glad to send it to you.
Charles is correct, we have several renters who are glad they tried it first, and some that picked up on how to use it eally well in one week. Let us know if we can help |
Or you could support the sponsors here (even though they don't reside in our great state - we forgive you ;) - perhaps we could consider you honorary Minnesotans).

Canon XL-H1, XH-G1 Rentals
Does anybody have any suggestions as to where on the East Coast, preferably New York, I would be able to rent up 4 Canon XL-H1 and/or Canon XH-G1's?

FYI, the hollywood sign is actually protected by copyright. If you're using it in a non-journalistic fashion, you'll have to contact the holder and purchase a license.
Yeah, I know. |
From the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce FAQ:
(http://www.hollywoodchamber.net/chamber/faq.asp) "I’d like to use the Hollywood Sign and the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Do I need to get permission to do this? Yes. Please contact Global Icons at (310) 820-5300." And this is interesting: http://ask.metafilter.com/88293/Holl...gn-Trademarked And so is this: http://www.globalicons.com/clients/e...ent-frame.html It looks like Global Icons really works hard to find violations and ask for their money: http://www3.wcl.american.edu/cni/0506/37847.html |
Shooter Needed: NNJ Wedding July
My nephew is getting married in July and he and his bride-to-be would like just the ceremony taped. They haven't found any videographers who are willing to do just the ceremony and since my young son is in the wedding, I'd rather watch than work so.....
If anyone is available and can shoot and turn over tape, please let me know. My Z1U, wireless package, and lights are available for the job. Thanks Reed |
Hey Reed, I might be able to do this. Let's talk.
|
I'm also interested. I've shot a couple of weddings using the Canon XHA1 and Sony PD170 in the last year for friends, and they turned out very well. I'll shoot as much as is needed. I live in Somerville NJ. Let me know and we can talk.
Thanks, James F |
Thanks Marco and James

3D Compositor and Animator
Hi
I've just shot my feature film - The Impossible Murder, on HDV 720/25p, in India. There is some special effects work that needs to be done and I can't afford any salary. However, I'm willing to share profits since I intend to sell this film commercially. There would be compositing work (After Effects, etc), some 3D Animation (in 3D Max or Maya), and anything else you wizards can think of to enhance production values. Please visit www.theindiefarm.com for further details and reply if this interests you in any way. Thanks! sareesh |
Hi Sareesh
I'm a freelance 3d animator from the UK. You can check out my website at www.3dvisions.co.uk. Check out the music video for composited work examples. The robot arms and the girl in the video. Cheers Mat |
Thanks guys for the info. I will check with cinequipt first since it is so close. And if I dont have any luck im sending my business to Texas! I definitely agree that it makes sense to rent first. Ive flown just a glidecam so far. I really want to full affect of the vest and "real" steadicam arm.

When in August? Travel expense? <gas being $4.25 a gallon>. I could offer sound lead depending.

DFW: Rent production switcher
Does anyone in the DFW area (that's Dallas area folks) have a SD switcher for rent or loan? I need it for a 2 hour job 6/23/08, sending signal to a couple of big screens.
Sorry, can't use the Videonics MX-1. Thanks -David |
I rented from this place - I used this one for a month. The company is owned by my brother-in-law, so I am somewhat biased, of course.

This whole Hollywood sign copyright biz is ridiculous. How many actually know about this? They need this > © :)

Could someone get me the "Nashville Star" opening graphic?
Hey all
I am new member here. I've spent a while searching the forums and reading various topics. But this is the first time I've actually posted something. I know it's rude for a stranger like me to ask for favors, but if it's quick and easy for someone to help me out then this won't be too much to ask. I am putting together my director's/editor's reel and I did some short term AC work on this season's "Nashville Star" show (now airing Monday nights on NBC). I want to obtain the opening title graphic to incorporate into my reel and I do not have the means to grab it off the TV. My VCR is broken, and I don't have a way to record a TV stream on my laptop. If anyone is able to grab the opener, compress it to a MOV file and email/upload to me I would be very grateful. Let me know if it's possible, and we can discuss further via email. If this is a lot to ask, then perhaps someone could suggest how I might go about getting the opener. All the best Thomas New Mac convert, Charlotte NC |

XDCAM Shooter on Kauai needed for documentary shoot in early July
Hello, I'm looking for an XDCAM shooter BASED on Kauai to run a second camera for a documentary shoot on July 7th in Hanalei Bay. Check out www.soulfabric.net to read about our project, and contact me here or via email for more details. The experience will be fun, deeply connected to culture and adventure, and is paid.

If you worked on the show, can't you ask the production company for it? That way you would get the highest quality possible (someone grabbing it for you may look rather cheap and not help your cause) and you would be on safe ground as far as copyright goes.

2nd camera for wedding in NE Ohio Jul. 19th
Just found out my client wants a 2 camera shoot for her wedding on the 19th of July. The event is in the Warren/Youngstown Ohio area. As this just came up, all of my colleagues who I would usually call upon are booked already.
I would require a person who has their own equipment, preferably HD if possible. The final product will be a widescreen DVD but I like to acquire in HD anyway for more options down the road. I shoot with a Canon H1 and a Canon HV20 for a wide balcony shot to cut away to if the other cameras goof up. This is basically a "c" roll camera! :) This 2nd camera person should be skilled enough to cover wide to medium shots handheld and on a tripod. I will handle all the closeups and creative shots. I don't expect the handheld shots to be "Steadicam" perfect but no nauseating fast pans and shakes. I need this camera to fall back on when I get too creative and blow focus on a critical shot or accidentally bump the "pause" button in the middle of the ceremony. Anyone in the Ohio area interested shoot me an email through my profile and I'll let you know the pay. It's pretty standard fare for a 2nd cam in the area. This would be for both the wedding "and" the reception. Thanks for any replies in advance. Marty |
Try VMI at www.vmi.tv
Might find it hard to find a DVX 100 to rent. Might have to use the HVX200 and record to tape if that's what you need. |
