I'm looking for an HDV deck...

I'm looking for an HDV playback/record deck that can do the following:

Playback JVC 720/24p footage for capture
Playback 1080/60i (like from an HV20) for capture
Downconvert to SD, as in I put in an HDV tape, and it sends SD out the 1394 port

The Sony M25 or M35 do it? Or it looks like the JVC BR-HD50 can do it?

Anyone with experience that can confirm?

Thanks so much!!

The M35 will. The M25 and M15 will not.

Don't know about the JVC deck. Looks like it might convert to 1080 but not actually play back native 1080 tapes. But not clear from the specs.

Actually Adam, it looks from Sony's site that the deck only sends 720p footage out the analog outputs, am I reading that right?

Quote:
Like the HVR-M25U, the new HVR-M35U also offers 1080i to 720p conversion capabilities (through the analog component and SDI outputs only)
Or not?

Thanks!

That's correct. At first I thought that the 35 could output 720 via FW, but a read of the manuals indicates that all the Sonys can only output 720 via analog (and SDI on the 35).

Ok, so something like a Blackmagic card would take of that then, correct?

Thanks!
