dv 16:9 is anamorphic

Hi Jane,

The way dv does 16:9 is by compressing the 16:9 image (1024 x 576 in pal) into a 720 x 576 frame, therefore your Quicktime will be approximately 4:3, 5:4 precisely as a matter of fact. As far as I know, quicktime cannot show you the image in the correct format, but if you import it in FCP and label it as 16:9 it will be fine. Same thing with DVDSP, you just import it and indicate the track must be shown in 16:9 letterbox and all should be fine.
