final cut pro problems with imported audio

I filmed footage on a canon xh a1, the footage has an audio rate of 48.0. I made a song using garageband and exported it to itunes, this audio rate is 44.1. I import the audio into final cut, preview it and its fine, but when i drag the audio into the timeline i get crackling, how can i work around this. Could it be my settings for importing camera footage in final cut and the settings for importing are messing everything up? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
