Suggestions...
Just wondering if anyone can advice me on the best way to mount a small 4ft crane that weigh about 8 pounds. I have a manfrotto tripod (16lbs capacity) with a 501 HDV head and a heavy duty light stand. I'd like to use the light stand however The 3/8 male thread on top of the light stand is too short to lock the crane to..i already went to a photo store and they suggested replacing the top piece with fabricated piece from a metal shop...
2nd option is to drill a bigger hole from a spare 501 quick release plate we have lying around but not sure it this can handle all the weight...the crane will be equipped with a DSLR + 14mm lens (2.7 lbs together) and about 10 lbs counter weight...any advice would be appreciated. Thanks! Kren |

I have a 4 foot jib. You can read about the setup here. http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/jibs-cra...-thoughts.html
I now have a feisol panning base mounted between the tripod and the quick release plate that is not shown in the photos. FEISOL Panning Base PB-70
