Chroziel Matte box

I'm planning on purchasing this matte box kit for my HD100. Does anyone using it know if it requires the JVC quick release plate? I'm concerned about balance and adjustability.

Thanks!

I have it, and no, it does not require the JVC QR plate. My Bogen balance plate works fine.
