So we're talking video here. Do not use the autofocus, you'll regret it at the worst time. So, manual focus it is. I use the


when I can otherwise I just use the LCD. No digital zoom. I'd consider a rig and follow focus if I got more into it but for now I just use the Canon XA10 for videos and the D7000 for high-res photos and exposure bracketing some shots that I need later in post. Cheers.

I have the d5100 which has a lot in common with the d700. I use push to auto-focus all the time. About half the time I do this with facial recognition, the other half I do it with the moveable focus box. Works great either way. Here is an in progress project that was all push to auto fcused:


Shot in AP mode with exposure lock assigned to a button.
