Using 4:3 mattebox & filters w/ 16:9 camera...?

This may be a bit naive of me, but I just wanted to be sure...

I have a 4x4 mattebox and some filters that I've been using with XL's, DVX's, etc, and I was wondering if there is any issue with using that mattebox with cameras that have a 16:9 chip (like the HVX-200 or SDX-900). Is a 4x5.6 (16:9) mattebox actually necessary?

Thanks,

Matt,

I'm using a 4x4 mattebox (Chrosziel) on my XL2. So far I haven't had any problems, not even in full wide with the standard lens. A true wide angle lens however is a different story.
