question about DV53 Dead CCD Pixel

Hi, I just purchased a new DV53 and the first time I used it, I noticed there was a dead pixel in the CCD(since the green dot showed up also on the Video out). I turned the camera off and now two days later I turned on the cam on again and I swear the deadpixel was not there when I first turned it on with the lens cap on. Then after 2 mins of zooming in and out, trying to get the pixel to show up, it appeared again very weak and almost coming and going. So my question is.. are dead CCD pixels static? meaning once it's there it'll always be there? or is it more like a dead pixel on a LCD screen, which can go away. So maybe I can gamble on this and hope that the dead pixel will go away?

Yang, that's a hot pixel which is a pixel with 1 foot in the grave. Return or exchange the cam. Since you just bought it, there's no need to worry about it. But don't too long, otherwise your warranty period will run out.
