is gs400 for Japan to?

Is gs400 for Japan to because four means death in Japan and Japan people will not buy any thing with four?

I read no dv4000 in Japan because it has four from you. You think?

Yes that could be one of the reasons.

No DV4000 in Japan because that is a stripped down version of the DV5000 (makers usually do not offer such marginally "different" (reads: inferior) models in the Jap market, especially after the better one has already been released). They simply phase it out if it doesn't sell well, or make it smaller :-))

It is also possible that what you call GS400 may be given a different model no. here, GS500 perhaps, and different color perhaps?? :-))

Don't take me too seriously Tom (although I'm kinda serious most of the time). I'm just speculating :-))

I can see 4 is bad in Japan but if 00 is added at end of 4 it is not bad or not so bad as just 4. This is okay because the name does not matter just the goodness of the video camcorder does matter and in the end this is what matters most which makes it good.

4 isn't among my favourite numbers. 3 certainly is, as in MX300, MX350 and DV300---except for the unremovable hood. Note: the MX300 is puffy while the MX350 is pokerish while the DV300 is puffy and has a big behind---well balanced, though, and good for run n gun. :-))
