It looks like the GS400 is going to be introduced in the US. It's showing up in on-line stores all over the Internet. Am I right on this? Circuit City carries the PV-953 so I would think they'll have this one.

OK, I just hope they have it in black! I wish camcorder manufacturers wouldn't release new cams in July. By the time it shows up in stores, summer will be over, and I won't be able to use it for any of the activities I have planned. Summer would be the best time for people to buy a new cam.

Seems like a very dumb marketing strategy - like all things camcorderish. I work for a company that sells Panny high-end notebooks, and they do the stupidist marketing things there too....like releasing a new line of notebooks, announcing it before Christmas, then not having anything ready to ship for several months, thus missing out on the biggest buying time for themselves.

This sounds about right. I'm sure poor Pokey can help out with their marketing, but Pokey already has a job.

Yes, if it comes in July, they would have missed 2 months or more of the summer market.

Will it have IR? Better yet, IR without the green effect - such as renedered into B&W with greyscale. Sshutter mode is useless when the subject moves

>>My one year old mx500 it's already ancient!Maybe I had to sell my mx500 and purchase the new gs400...

Unless the gs400 is incredibly better, I'm going to be perfectly happy with my MX500. (even if it is).
BTW, if you are selling yours at a very good price I might be interested. Could always use 2 cameras if yours is in good shape.
So far I'm happy using the MX500 within it's limitations.
