GS400 nicer 4:3 image than DVC30?

I looked through some old threads (maybe even on another board) and saw a couple of comments that the GS400 made nicer 4:3 interlaced footage than the DVC30. So I guess I was wondering if any of you had a similar opinion on this, and if so, was it a matter of sharpness or overall color and image appeal?

Thanks!!

Haven't heard that one. I'd really be surprised if the DVC30 image quality was inferior in any way in 4:3.

16:9, that's another story.

A larger quantity of pixels per CCD gives superior 16:9 (resolution and angle of view) to the GS400 hands down but 4:3 seems to me a level playing field.

Even the now discontinued GS100 had superior 16:9 to the DVC30 but thats to be expected with the DVC30's low pixel count per CCD. Of course a low pixel count usually yields better low light performance and I'm sure thats what Panasonic intended.

Here are a few 16:9 GS100 and DVC30 frames for comparison
