Panasonic Firmware & Software Updates

Looks like Panasonic has released some big firmware updates including E-Series firmware for the 200/200A/170. They also have the latest Mac Drivers for P2 (a must have), new AVC-Intra Decoder for Mac, and a AVCCAM viewer. Download them now.

Andy,

Are you on a Mac? I tried to download the firmware for my HPX170, but they said that you couldn't use a Mac running Leopard. I needed to fill out a form and they would send me some special software to unzip the file. Does this make sense?

Thanks,

Daniel Weber

Panasonic sent me a link to an ftp site where I could download the firmware update (version 1.10). It installed properly and I can now use the "E" series cards.

Installed the latest P2 drivers and my duel adaptor still doesnt work with my macbook pro so no change there.

I am on leopard 10.5.6 so no adaptor driver needed, the adaptor just doesnt mount the P2 card on the desktop and then crashes the macbook.

Hi guys

I just Tested this newest P2 driver V1.50 in my Intel Macpro OS 10.5.6, and my Amtron card reader stopped working, V1,33 was the last version.
This newest driver address issues with use of the E-series cards , and that's important, my camera still talks to the Macpro via USB so it's not the end of the world.

I can live with it if it supports more Ram in the Mac..well done Pana.

Cheers

For whatever reason, when you unzip the camera firmware (for any P2 product) in Leopard the files won't be recognized in the camera. I use a PC now for all my upgrades or Parallels without any problem. I guess the Leopard unzip tool screws up the files somehow. So it sounds like Panasonic is sending you another tool to unzip it that won't cause that problem.

If you don't have access to Windows, you can use a form on the Panasonic website and they will email you a link to where you can download the software without having to uncompress it. It worked great for me. I was able to download the file right to my SD card.
