Firestore updated, now supports 24pN (sort of)
New press release from IBC:
http://www.marketwire.com/mw/release...ease_id=160142 The FS-100 is getting an update so that it only stores the active frame, in effect giving it the same functionality as 720/24pN mode. You wouldn't set the camera to 720/24pN, you'd still have to set it to 720/24P mode (because the camera still doesn't output firewire data in the 24pN mode) but the FS-100 now has the ability to examine the incoming data stream and discard duplicate frames, storing only the 24 native frames. Which means that instead of storing 100 minutes, the FS-100 will now be able to store about four hours of 720/24p! Good job, Focus! Firmware update is slated for sometime in the middle of the fourth quarter at a cost of $39. |

Thanks Barry - Michael Schoenfeld
Barry,
I just got my first FS-100 from a fellow on the DVX board (gently used, but in excellent condition) - great news about the new firmware 3.0. BTW, once I unboxed the FS-100, it took all of 15 minutes for me to: 1- Figure out Capture and download to computer. (HVX to Mac FCP 5.1.1) 2- Figure out over and under cranking. 3- Figure out "camera record button" enabled use. This unit is in a whole different league from the Citidisk, which BTW,will be on it's way back on Monday once RMA is received - FS-100 is worth every extra penny! Thanks again for the excellent work on the HVX book. And boy, how bout that Red? All the best, Michael Schoenfeld View my newest portfolio offerings at: www.michaelschoenfeld.com |
